The Eastern Cape holds a special place in my heart. I moved to Boesmansriviermond as a 7-year-old boy, and it became the backdrop to the most incredible childhood. Days were spent swimming in the warm river, snorkeling in tidal pools, fishing off the rocks, and exploring the vast, windswept dunes in a battered old Nissan Safari 4x4.
This stretch of South Africa is wild and unspoiled—where rolling hills meet pristine beaches, and life moves with the tides. The Eastern Cape isn’t flashy; its beauty lies in its rawness, in the salt on your skin after a long day outside, and in the sunsets that set the landscape ablaze.
Boesmans gave me a deep connection to nature, adventure, and freedom. It’s a place where memories are made barefoot, under big skies, with the call of a fish eagle echoing across the river. There’s nowhere in the world quite like it.
